*siyempre in tagalog*

"Kay sin-o gusto ang nursing haw?"

Siyempre lang gid masabat ko tuod. Mabinutig pa ko na nga kapoy na gid ko. "Kanday tatay, Ma'am."

"Ano gid bala gusto mo?" follow up question.

"Marine bio gid Ma'am first choice ko tani.

Dumduman mo to? Bal-an mo ayhan nga may Finding Dory na nga pelikula?

Dumduman mo to? Old McDonald Had a Farm.

The Sly Dimension

I rarely take selfies but when I do I take them in bulk. And they mostly involve me in my 4th dimension mode---the fangirl who likes mostly everything JP and Jang Geun Suk (long before most people got a crush on him in You're Beautiful, I got dibs on him first when he appeared in Hwang Jini). Also, we both love Bath & Body Works' Warm Vanilla Sugar scent, we could spend the entire day just smelling each other. (ew what did I just say?)

I was browsing through old files and I found these photos taken around 2 years ago. Interesting how I used to spend my alone times in our dorm room. Basically, I'm saving these here for myself. Thanks to Justine for the posters~ I kind of forgot where exactly in Divisoria we used to buy our Anime and KPop posters. Also, chances are, I'm just talking to myself in this blog.

If I don't talk to myself, no one else will. -Dara (2ne1)

Losing Your Sight is Not Losing Your Life

A person with active systemic lupus erythematosus suffers numerous complications, which as the name itself suggests, involves various systems of the body. Though the cause of the disease is unknown most scientists think that autoimmunity is the primary cause; the body produces antibodies, such as antinuclear antibodies (ANAs), against its own cells. The formed antigen-antibody complexes then suppress the body's normal immunity and damage tissues.

The patient in this case is put in a greater risk not only for infection but in the consistent decline of the body's normal function. Antibodies against tissue components such as RBCs, neutrophils, platelets and almost any organ or tissue are formed in patients with SLE.

This review article focuses on  the ocular manifestations of SLE which affect about one-third of those suffering from it. These manifestations range from orbital to irreversible vision loss.

Based on studies, 29% of these ocular manifestations is lupus retinopathy and is greatly correlated to an underlying CNS disease. In my patient's case, she experienced gradual vision loss secondary to vitreous hemorrhage, glaucoma was how the doctor explained it to her.

As a healthcare provider, we have been taught to promote independence to our patients, despite their conditions. Though understandably, a person afflicted with SLE experiences a number of symptoms, one of its greatest blow would probably be losing one's vision. It is one thing to be sick but still be able to perform certain things on your own, but even gradual visual loss-which for her only took a year- would take a longer time to adjust to. She was fortunate to still have the chance of undergoing an operation to restore her vision, though in certain cases, it was no longer an option.

The only thing worse than a disease with an unknown cause is having a treatment not for the condition itself but for the relief of symptoms, as the case in SLE. It is a great realization, especially in my level, that one of the best interventions I can perform does not rely on giving medications to the patient but in staying with the patient on the bedside, talking and listening to her for even if she cannot see me, and though I cannot see her smile behind the mask, her eyes still show that she smiles. And even if she had temporarily lost her ability to see,one never loses her to feel; to be grateful for everything that's going around her and for her.

Nursing, College of Nursing!

This profession is ironic:

We promote proper sleep when we stay up late at night doing paper works, proper nutrition when we skip our meals because of extended duty hours (*insert other relevant reasons here*).

We teach and care for those in need but I find it more beautiful when we learn a greater deal of life lessons from those whom we teach and gratefulness from those people whom our profession exists for.

You say thank you, well, let me thank you too.

So far,
so good.

Our Magic 8-ball destiny with Boyfriend

No, my friends and I didn't get a ticket for the Hallyu Fest in SM Mall of Asia BUT....

Isha, Mira and I had originally planned on meeting up at around 8 am and go to SM MOA together so we could line up early and get the tickets. The three of us got there at around 10 already and we seriously thought we were early, until we saw "The Line." So we joined "The Line" and waited there for more or less thirty minutes and noticed that it was progressing. *Yahoo!* But then, moments later someone informed us that there were NO more tickets left; they've already distributed all including those for the 2nd batch.

"No more tickets are to be given out. So you guys should better get going."

Many 'false alarms' occurred during the event which both amused and irritated me. And what kind of event would it be without the screaming? The fangirls and fanboys would scream/shout random lines like "Boyfriend", "Ticket", "Kwangmin" (bias), "Minwoo" ... and ridiculously "Manong Guard". They even sang/shout/screamed "Ojig nan neoui Boyfriend eh eh eh eh" .

We stood there, in front of the center stage, along with the other fans for almost 8 hours and it was one of my most 'dugyot' moments ever. The three of us were positioned right behind the metal barricade, both a good and bad spot, since if Boyfriend makes an appearance, we'll get a good view of them though we were greatly harassed by the people standing behind us. Isha and I were actually talking on what we would do in case the barricades fall and we'd either end up being stepped on or worse. Good thing that never happened, bad thing, there was no reason why a 'stampede' was necessary, for they didn't show up for the rest of our  stay in there.

But at least, we made a few friends during our 8-hour long wait, and to keep ourselves entertained we took pictures of our 'dugyot' moment and at the same time, we ranted on how thirsty the three of us were and on our desire to take a bath at that moment. And oh, we also ranted on how great a failure SM's security is, on how disorganized the Event organizers are, and that they should just have the event at the Parking lot.

We decided to finally leave at around 7 pm sensing that the group was already inside. We had dinner at Karate Kid, where each of us consumed three kiddo punches, talked about random stuffs, witnessed the regular MOA fireworks display and then headed to Fully Booked where the book I brought triggered the alarm twice.

Not giving up what's left of our hopes on seeing the group, we headed back to the center stage and on the way saw a group of fans eavesdropping on a double-door entrance which says, "Authorized Personnel Only." They said it was one of the two backstage doors. *Personal comment: that's just too much* Upon reaching the front area of the center stage which still has barricades surrounding it, we asked some fans if the group made an appearance to which they replied the obvious, "No."

And so we left, wandering around the mall until we decided to go to Toy Kingdom and spent our time in there looking at random stuffs again. One of which was the Magic 8 ball.

Enter Magic 8 ball. It was a battery-operated toy which looks like *ta-tan* a pool ball with an 8 on it only that it's actually a fortune-telling object.

Me: "Will I see Boyfriend?" 8-ball: "Outlook not so good."Me: "Will I be able to go to Korea someday?"8-ball: "It is certain."
Isha: "Will I see Boyfriend?"8-ball: *Can't remember the line but it's something positive*BTW, the 8-ball says Isha will possibly go to Korea someday too.
Mira: after some other weird questions, "Will I see Boyfriend?"8-ball: "Most likely." (or something, but it's positive too)

The responses made us smile but hey, welcome to reality friend. After lingering around some more, we had our pictures taken at some studio (capture the memories, memories). We spent a couple of minutes having our shots and waiting for them to be printed out.

The moment the three of us stepped outside the mall to head towards wherever the PUVs are, we heard the screams/shouts of the fans. It was a really epic moment for me because in the split of a second, I was there standing and the next thing I knew I was running and telling myself, "Why stand when you're supposed to run?!?" I was running after a bus, and so was Isha, Mira & the rest of the fans.

And then I saw a hand (left or right, I have no idea) from the rear end glass of the bus, waving at the fans, and which belongs to a blond headed member. We found out later that it was Donghyun.

I turned around grinning like an idiot, and I saw my friends with the same looks plastered on their faces. Mahn, that was so awesome! That brief moment where I saw the bus with Boyfriend inside, and that gesture made by one of the members was enough for me. It made me almost forget all the negative things that happened to me half of the day. *lalala-love*

"No way could we have had run that fast." But yes we did!

The three of us started walking back very much satisfied when realized that we ran that fast to have covered such distance in a short time. Not only that. We even jumped around when we realized that the Magic 8-ball was right! We saw Boyfriend. *insert grinning-like-idiots-face here*

Technically, just some of the members.. Err, a member for me. Isha saw Donghyun and Minwoo, Mira saw Youngmin. Unfortunately, no Kwangmin for the three of us ,whose lips were the same as J's.

Everything just seemed happier and even up until now, I'm smiling contentedly to myself. I know Isha & Mira are too.

We may have not seen Boyfriend's performance because of the circumstances, but at least we experienced the happiness of being a Bestfriend. Every little thing that they do for the fans is happiness! :)

my usual end-of-the-post gifs are dedicated to
Kwangmin
Swag. Kwangmin style.
credits to the .gif makers

PS. Kwangmin loves watching movies and reading books and listening to music.
I do too. But that doesn't make us soul mates 'cause if it does, then we'd be soul mates with almost half of the world too.
LOL.

I am very much positive that they will return to the Philippines for a concert. And when that day comes, I hope everyone would be treated fairly. I hope that their future visits in the country would be the total opposite of what had happened today at MOA's center stage.
*a hint of BV-ness*

The difference, aside from the flash and the positioning,
is our smiles.

I never thought I'd be posting this

I wrote/typed these lines on my Sketchpad (Evernote) last year when I found out that a friend dropped all of her N subjects and was planning to shift to another course/college. Then I decided to not make a big deal out of it since I'll be seeing a lot of her around the campus in the future. But then, she transferred to a university in Iloilo at the beginning of this semester and I just have to show her this screenshot.

Just so you know, wala ko pa man gina-istorya kamot ko. :)

I know she's having a good time in there;
I wish I could say ,
"So am I."

Food. Glorious Food.

For our last requirement in Comm3, we were made to interview an expert on our topic of choice. I had always wanted to interview a cosplayer thus I suggested it on our FB group but sadly some other group from the previous semester had already done it. Our approved topic was "tips for budding restaurantuers" and I had no idea who to interview. There are only three real, good chefs I know and they're the chef judges from Junior Master Chef.

And then I remembered Jeanie. (Sorry Jeanie, I just started texting you when I needed help with our project). And then she recommended Chef Sau Del Rosario.

Finally, after days of constructing the letter (with major revisions plus the 'cryptic' handwriting) and gaining enough guts to send him an email, he consented. (I was in the library when my group mates found out about ze reply and I was running all the way just to see it on the laptop). He really was kind enough to consider our request and to even allot time for us despite his very busy week.

Our interview with him lasted for forty five minutes and though the captured video was a total failure [don't remind me], the things we've learned from that interview was very much inspiring. [Because I was in a hurry to move on with my life, I had deleted the entire Comm3 folder and unfortunately, one of the files inside was the video of our interview with Chef Sau.]

One of the things which according to him made him levels higher than other young, beginner chefs was experience. He had asked us if we knew Ratatouille, his life in France as a cook was very much like that, well, except for the rat. It was in that place where he had to catch the live fish being thrown to him, having his butt kicked by the French cooks while he goes searching for the fish that just slipped away, crying by the river Seine (to which he adds: It might sound cliche but it happened to me) and calling his mom that he's almost about to give up and being encouraged to just go on in return.

Chef Sau, one of the most-recognized chefs in the country, had cooked for the Pope, the president and various other celebrities but he says, "I treat them all the same. All customers  deserve the best food, the best ingredients (60% ingredients, 40% skills) because they're paying for it." He had lots of other restaurants put up in various places all over the metro but Villa Cafe, his new 'baby' and the one where we had the interview, was one important place for him. The dishes served in the restaurant are from people close to Chef Sau; from those who had greatly influenced him on the course of his career. The adobo served in here, which I tell you is very delicious ( i don't know what else to say) is his mom's favorite.Other recipes are from his mentors,to which he just adds his own style; and there are lines written beside almost every dish in the menu, such as  "Chef Sau's comfort food" :)
Now these are real thin-sliced chips. I forgot whether this was potato or banana.

Pastel de Lengua. I was sweating as I was eating this  one, spicy and yummy.
And I particularly liked the way the meat(err, tongue) was cooked, I think the tenderness of
the meat strands has something to do with the overall taste of every meal.
I could've had removed all the sauce and the meal would still taste really good.
BUT since I prefer half-cooked veggies, the potato and carrots didn't really suit my taste.
Lengua (again). The sauce tasted really great. Creamy enough to scream
"I'm the Lengua American version" but it wouldn't redirect your taste buds from the
lengua to the sauce.

Pizza-Pampanga version. This tastes nothing like the pizza you  used to order  on some
pizza resto.
Banana Butter shake. Never really tasted this one. But according to my group mates,
it tastes more buttery than banana-ish

We had our picture taken with Chef Sau who before doing so had volunteered to wear his chef coat (I don't know what it's really called). Kitty, third from left, was a fan of Chef Sau and she actually dressed up for the interview.

And though I wasn't able to finish my meal because it's good for two (not for one) and the waiters didn't even warn us :| getting the chance to interview one of the best Pinoy chefs around and being able to eat a dish he made is just like walking on sunshine.

Nabusog ako,
ang sarap,
~good bye 500.
---------------------------------------------------
AND, thank you Jeanie . :)
Buot man gid siya. Just ike you said.

At the South Harbor

MV Logos Hope
I finally went to Logos Hope at South Harbor (with my dorm mates) last Thursday afternoon (even if that meant missing a class).

This was Ate Norma, the Cebuana crew, who gave Jasmine the ticket because Jasmine seemed eager to volunteer.

The book prices are in units and the exchange rate is
1 unit=1 peso. So hard right? :)

There were different sections in the book store ranging from bestsellers, medicine books, classics, Christian/inspirational, cookbooks, languages, children's etc.

My favorite were the stalls filled with Christian albums, most of which are unavailable in the country (aside from Hillsong & probably Citipointe). What made me all giddy was seeing 3  Building 429's album in there; and MercyMe's too. I had a hard time deciding what to buy (since I haven't expected them to be selling these 'epic' things). Just after the main bookstore, there's this small section filled with 3 for 500 units McGraw Hill books along with 3 for 100 units Christian CDs.

I ended up buying this Music Appreciation book and the New Testament for Students along with 2 Christian albums.

After buying some books, one can (should-since you cannot go out without passing through this area) take a short journey through their audio-visual retelling of the parable,
"The Prodigal Son".
The International Cafe

-We get to view the city from here-

Because these two cans are non-existing in the Philippine market. :)

Who went there?

Jasmine who was given a ticket to Logos Hope's Farewell Party (this afternoon-March 13).

photo credits to Jasmine, the only one with a camera :]

Me eating a sundae which a twitter friend had recommended.
Ate Johan whose name was the same with the guy on the cafeteria serving the sundaes.

Justine who would've been left behind if we went there on a Friday.
This was the little theater where David,a crew member from Malaysia, did a short magic show. Funny because when he asked the audience to guess where he came from, most answered either China or Korea. The same thing happened with Alex, who was actually from Thailand. Most of us answered Korea.
Why, stereotyping people. :|

For Angeli,
because she wanted to see
what's inside Logos Hope.
